Just a bit ago, I wrote about ObjectDock. It’s great and all, but having another dock from them costs money… So I went looking.
Edit: According to Teck, RocketDock also uses less system resources!
Best:
More user-friendly configuration
Worst:
… Still no LAN status.

See how close they are? The top is RocketDock… the bottom is ObjectDock.

For those of you who don’t know, a dock is like the Windows Start menu, but a lot cooler. The idea is to have shortcuts in an organized spot, but you can set it auto-hide, give it animations, minimize applications to it, and more. Other people can also make skins and “docklets,” which you can download for free. A docklet is anything on your dock that isn’t just a shortcut… like a clock, or a battery meter.
I’ve been using ObjectDock for a bit now, and it’s fine, but I wanted another dock, and they charge more for that. This one is called RocketDock, and it’s as close as it can legally be, I think.
…I have to say: configuration is more user-friendly than ObjectDock’s, and there’s a bit more customization in terms of fonts and such.
You can get it at RocketDock.com.

Wow I was impressed when I saw that RocketDock only requires 10mb of ram… ‘ObjectDock’ was somthing like
256mb which was making my computer run sluggish…
I also noticed that ‘RocketDock’ is more responsive also…
Great review BTW…
P.s. I chat with you on the im tomorrow I got something
to tell you…
Teck
Glad you like it. I didn’t check to see if it took less of the system’s resources… I suppose my excessive amount of RAM keeps me from things like that.
Actually, I probably won’t be around when you get to IM-ing me… I have a soccer match tonight, but I’ll be home around 7.
